British Council Moscow/IATEFL Leadership & Management SIG Conference
Professional Development for Teachers and Managers
19-21 March 2010
British Council, Moscow

Speakers
  • Liam Brown - How to manage the fuzzy, the unclear, the unfinished
  • Gavin Dudeney - Managing institutional introduction of technologies
  • Andy Hockley - Reflective practice for managers
  • Maureen McGarvey - Is managing teachers different?
  • George Pickering - Professional development for teachers and managers: what are the options and how effective are they?

How do we make sure that teachers receive the development and training they need to provide excellent quality courses to students? And how do we make sure that managers have the right developmental opportunities to enable them to manage effectively in an increasingly competitive market? This conference will explore the dual themes of how to plan and organise professional development for teachers and for managers in English language teaching. In addition to talks and workshops from the invited speakers above, the conference will include seminars from managers and trainers who are working within the Russian context.

The conference will run from Friday afternoon to Sunday lunchtime.

It will include plenary talks, a closing panel discussion and there will be parallel workshops on teacher and management professional development.
